In order to comply with new requirements from the Federal Government and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), USA Hockey implemented a national level background screening policy effective April 1, 2020.  USA Hockey had procured the services of NCSI- industry leader in youth centered background screenings.

The background screen are to be completed every 2 years.  The new screening policy will cost the individual $30.  

1. Association Registrar’s will forward all official roster links for every team to the SSD for verifications that the coaches are approved (SS, CEP, Modules). PLUS a list of all other volunteers for every team their association will have (all practice and/or bench coaches, team managers, lockerroom monitors, etc…) that are required to have the background and safesport trainings. (Please include the team manager on  rosters.)  This includes ALL inhouse teams AND any tiered teams (14U/16U/18U/Girls teams associated with USAH).

1. SSD will run a final verification on Jan 5, from the lists and roster links of coaches and team managers for completions. On January 5th, NO background checks or Safesport trainings will be approved to be used for the current season. Coaches will be pulled, if they can not verify CEP’s were completed but not updated, and Modules need to be done as well.

1. NO ONE will be approved after the January 5th date. INCLUDING VOLUNTEERS!  - so don't decide to be a locker room monitor 3 days before a state tournament!

It may take up to 15+ days for a screen to be completed, it is not quick like before. This company runs all USAHockey background checks, so they take longer. Do not expect to be approved within a few hours, or right before a game, because you are red-lined on a roster.

If you happen to be from out of the country, it can take over 60 days for approval!!!!! You will not be allowed on the ice until your check has bee cleared
